The HBO has confirmed that The Last of US television series will not be released this year.
The news has been confirmed by the Chief Content Officer of the platform, Casey Bloys, who explained Deadline that “is not going to be emitted in 2022. They are still rolling in Canada. I imagine you’ll see it in 2023”.
And that is, perhaps, the key data, which are still rolling (it is estimated that they will end in July) and the post-production process will be long, due to the amount of special effects necessary to give life to the post-apocalyptic world of the game of Naughty Dog.
Bloys has also added that he has seen some of the first episodes and that he is “very excited” for the progress of the project. “Craig [Mazin, Screenwriter] did Chernobyl for us, he is a scriptwriter and fantastic director. What I’ve seen is amazing, so I’m excited about it, but it will not be 2022”.
The HBO announced the adaptation of The Last of Us at the end of 2020. A few months later, in February 2021, it was revealed that Actor Pedro Pascal and the Bella Ramsey actress had been hired to interpret the roles of Joel and Ellie, and Later they joined each other as Nick Offerman (Bill), Jeffrey Pierce (Perry), Gabriel Luna (Tommy), Nico Parker (Sarah) or Merle Dandridge (Marlene).
The last addition to casting is the actress Storm Reid, famous for her involvement in Euphoria, to play Riley Abel.
The Last of Us television series will be composed of ten episodes (in its first season) and some of them have been directed by Neil Duckmann, co-president of Naughty Dog.
