An interview with the developer of the new indie game I’m worried about this project. This time, Pi nix development, Rogue Light Deck Building Game, “ Alina of the Arena ” for January 19 for PC / Mac Delivers a mini-in-tavy to developers.
This work is a rogue light deck building game that utilizes 6 squares around the player. Make your own card deck, and do an arena battle while caring out your enemies and your position. It is also characterized by “Dual Equipment System” that can be equipped with various things in the left and right hands. At the time of article writing, it is not Japanese.
“Alina of the Arena” is delivering early access for 1,320 yen.
– First, please introduce yourself. What is your favorite game?
MAX Chen. Please call MAX. I am active as a small game studio Pi nix in Taiwan. I love the game made by Miyazaki Hakka, “Dark Soul” “Blood borne” “Senior: Shadows Die Twice”, everything is the most favorite game.
-Why did you start developing this work?
MAX Initially, I wanted to create a new style turnaround game like “Want to Survive: Zombie Cheats”, a game I made for the first time. However, there is no particular reason, but I thought that I would try to put the Rogue Like Deck Building Elements. I just thought that it would be fun to try it alone, without any reason.
– Please tell me the characteristics of this work.
MAX first is a hexagonal system called “HEX-BASED TACTICS”. Unlike deck builders focusing on old-fashioned attacks and defenses, positioning is a strategic element. It will be advantageous with each other and hit the enemy and use the topography.
Next, “Dual Equipment System”. Each hand is equipped with each hand to strengthen the card! Holding Dagger and increase damage, equipped with swords and shields, raise the overall ability, and escape the crisis with both hands holding weapons. In each battle, find the best combination!
– What kind of person do this work do you want to play?
I would like MAX “SLAY THE SPIRE”, “Into THE BREACH”, and other strategy games. I think it is for those who like to make a deck in the game.
– How long have you been planning for early access? What factors will be added in the future?
For MAX adjustment, we plan for half a year from 4 months. Of course, if everything goes well, it may be lynching early.
– Please tell me the impression that you have released as early access.
I’m glad that MAX has made early access. There are many feedbacks from the players and are very helpful to adjust balance. Because the balance adjustment of the deck building game is very difficult, feedback is really saved by actually playing.
– Is there a work affected by this work?
MAX, of course, “SLAY THE SPIRE” and “Into THE BREACH”. It is easy to understand.
– Is there any plan to support Japanese work? Is it possible to translate?
MAX Yes, there is a plan to support Japanese. “Want to Survive: Zombie Capture”, one of my first works, was playing with many Japanese players. And I had a lot of wonderful reviews and I also liked the game. With thanks to them, I also want to support Japanese in this work. – Did you have an impact on development by new coronavirus?
MAX No, Pi nix is a studio that is doing alone, and sometimes part-time job participates in several people. There is no office and all interactions are done online, so there is no impact.
